Jonathan Gavalas, 36, died by suicide on 2 October 2025 after about two months of intensive use of Google's Gemini. His father alleges Gemini convinced him it was a sentient AI 'wife', built escalating delusions about surveillance and secret missions, and ultimately framed his death as a way for them to be reunited. Google says Gemini repeatedly clarified it was an AI and referred him to a crisis line many times, while acknowledging its models are not perfect.
